This is why strong Democratic holds matter

On Tuesday, Dawn Euer won the special election for the Rhode Island Senate District 13.
Euer, a community organizer who helped lead the successful campaign for marriage equality in Rhode Island, is a lawyer and owner of a successful law firm with a focus on supporting social entrepreneurs, non-profits, and small businesses. Euer’s win is just the latest in a series of Democratic special election wins as DLCC lays the groundwork for substantial gains in 2017 and 2018 in statehouses across the country.
And while the seat was a strong Democratic hold in a Democratic legislature, Euer’s win is still extremely laudable for this reason: Strong Democratic legislatures lead to strong Democratic policies and outcomes.
