Cycling in Rivington

As you pass the Macron stadium on the M61 you may have found yourself thinking “how could a club that bad have a stadium that nice” or perhaps, “Wow, that looked so much better when it said Reebok”. What you may or may not have noticed is the picturesque moorland that rises above all the houses. This, for the most part, is Rivington. A space that may look small on a map, but carries infinite possibilities for adventure. An adventure which you are going to take a small peek at through the mind of top Enduro mountain biker Martha Gill, one of the area’s most talented native’s.
Firstly though let’s have a look how the world of twitter views cycling in Rivington… with a graph!
So let’s get going, this first spot is the final bit of a descent from a little hill called The Two Lads.
So how do the pros do it then? I hear you ask, well, let’s have a look…
The second spot your being shown is a jump in the woods, plus Martha tells us how she uses it for her training.
Martha was too chicken to try this on the day, jokes…
Let’s have a break from the madness to hear what fellow mountain bikers out on the hill have to say about Rivington.
Don’t get on your bike just yet, there’s two more spots to see! And we learn a little bit more about our home grown talent…
How to do it AT SPEED!
And the final spot, this one shows what can be achieved with a spade and some heavy lifting.
You know the drill by now…
So there you have it, a few of Rivington’s best places for Mountain biking as shown by Martha Gill of Marin Stans NoTubes Official UK Team.
If you remember, at the start of the piece I told you there were infinite places to explore around Rivington, you have seen four. So get out on your bike, be active, because you still have an 8 on its side left to discover!
