Finding Your Happy Place
Insights from our Office Manager

As a young professional, entering the real world and finding the right workplace can be challenging. Competition is fierce and I tend to be a soft spoken and introverted person which sometimes makes it hard to really stand out or be noticed. In my own personal experience, most workplaces did not take the time to see me individually and appreciate me for who I am as a person and what I stand for.
One of my first experiences here, while I was being interviewed, was being asked, “Why did you leave your last company?” I responded honestly and said, “Well, the material I was dealing with was very sensitive and I had a hard time coping being a sensitive person myself”. I could not have asked for a more caring and understanding response from the interviewer. He sympathized and understood when many people would have put a mark against my name for being sensitive. My next interviewer made an impact with me as well. He was all smiles and a genuinely positive person asking me essential questions in the nicest manner which helped me feel right at home.
I am honored to have such wonderful coworkers. As a young woman, having my words and thoughts being taken seriously by my whole team really does feel empowering. My voice is never hushed and my tenderness is appreciated. I do not feel the need to change who I am, which makes me feel particularly happy. Another thing that makes me happy is that our CEO, Doug Ludlow, loves N’sync as do I! I learned this when our team played the card game Exploding Kittens during our weekly happy hour. This is just one example of the good times and goofy events we have here.

I am passionate about my job here and believe in what we are doing. The goal is to alleviate the stress of others, and home maintenance can definitely be a stressful process. Finding the right person to let into your home and do quality work can be a challenge. We take out the whole challenging/stressful song and dance of home maintenance and instead let our customers spend more irreplaceable quality time with their loved ones.
Giving families more time to spend with one another definitely makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Not only that, but we also are involved in providing environments for families to make memories, such as assembling basketball hoops for families to play basketball together and remodeling kitchens for families to cook together in. This is colossally rewarding for me as I strive to be a selfless person serving others to make their lives better. The Happy Home Company allows me to do exactly this. We handle it all and I am confident in our work. There’s a reason I picked out a huge ornament inscribed with “JOY” for our little christmas tree in this office. It is because hearing the positive results from our customers and technicians makes me feel JOY!
I feel confident and proud that little ol’ me has made connections with contractors, handymen, plumbers, electricians and so on. I have acquired an immense amount of home maintenance knowledge from growing up on a ranch, to working at a full service contracting company, to presently being with The Happy Home Company. Who would have thought that I, the girly girl, would know things like what coring drills are?
I’d like to thank Zach, one of our in-house Happy Home handymen, for teaching me so many things about home maintenance, tools, and more. Also, I can’t thank my dear friend, Carlo (our VP of Home Management), enough for setting up an interview for me here. He showed me the ropes and I can’t thank him enough for believing in me. He has a puritan work ethic with good intentions and I am honored to work with him. I truly am blessed to have this job. Even when I have a full day, with the surplus of jobs we receive there are so many things I look forward to in this company to help me happily power through.
Working here is such a pleasure and I appreciate each one of my team members’ sparkling personalities. I am so jazzed to be apart of such a great company that is dedicated to helping others!
