Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane was a gospel artist elected into Eswatini parliament in 2018 by the people of Siphofaneni. In 2021, he fled Eswatini because he was being sought by the law on charges of inciting riots that resulted in death and destruction of property — he obviously claims to be innocent of these charges. Gawuzela founded a political party called the Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO), and he continues to be it’s president to this day.

Gawuzela

Gawuzela makes a lot of claims about Eswatini being a dictatorship without democracy, and him being innocent of all charges leveled against him. Gawuzela can clarify a lot of things for the people of Eswatini and the world in answering just a handful of questions.

Please join us in asking the previously honorable Gawuzela the following 5 simple questions:

  1. What did you mean by “schools should be burnt at night”? In an audio recording leaked by the tabloid Swaziland News and shown above, we hear you, Gawuzela, clearly giving instructions on how arson attacks will be carried out from farms to schools. Can you please explain what you meant by this? What was your goal exactly? How did the burning of schools in 2021 help Emaswati?
  2. Why were items from a murder victim found in your home? You released an audio of yourself admitting that items including a bulletproof vest from a murdered correctional officer were found in your home. You said that they were put there by someone who is always with your son because they work together. Why is your home considered a safe place to store such highly questionable items?
  3. In the audio mentioned above, you say that the bulletproof vest from a murder scene was left by an EFF member who had directly communicated with you — why were you in communication with an EFF member who was carrying a murdered officer’s items? You say in your own words that you were communicating directly with this person before they ended up leaving the bulletproof vest where you had told them to go and sleep — why is this? Under normal circumstances, Mr Gawuzela, phone calls are confidential, but in your case as a public figure, you have personally commented that you were having a phone call with the person who left exhibits in your home, it is only right that you explain the context of your relationship with the man you call an EFF member. You say that this person was stranded with others and needed a place to sleep, why did they call you to help them when you are not even in the country?
  4. Who are the people you were referring to when you told the Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku in June 2021 that “there are people who are coming into the country with guns”? You requested to get on the radio and tell the riotous people to calm down when you were talking to the acting prime minister, why did you think that they will listen to you? More importantly, do tell us who was entering the country with guns, you never did tell us more about this in your numerous broadcasts on social media.
  5. What are the steps SWALIMO has in mind that will make Eswatini a better place for Emaswati? What has SWALIMO done since it’s inception towards these steps? We know that some of your co-founders left you to start another political party of their own, but we still want to know, how is SWALIMO helpful to Emaswati in any way?

We look forward to your answers to these questions, formerly honorable MP Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane.
