As he advises Emaswati to participate in elections legislation

MANZINI — Self-exiled former Member of Parliament Mduduzi Gawuzela Simelane has encourged Emaswati to engage their Member of Parliaments to give their input on the proposed bills which affect elections procedures.

Even though Gawuzela wrote his message in a tone of protest, everything he says demonstrates that every single member of Eswatini has an MP elected at the Tinkhundla level, and that MP is alwas open to discuss with the constituents. Gawuzela was a democratically elected MP, and that is why it is surprising that he claims democracy does not exist in Eswatini, even though he is posting encouraging Emaswati to democratically participate in elections legislation through the system provided by Tinkhundla.

Below is the picture and message which Gawuzela posted.

Attached to this post is the order paper, which is the agenda for parliament seating. The MPs will officially receive copies of this bill, have time and opportunity to apply themselves on what the regime is seeking to change on the elections guidelines before being recalled to another seating for debate and adoption of the bill.

Our duty as a nation is now to demand for these copies from the MPs, read and see any trick the regime is up to and then influence/advise the MPs ahead of the debate and adoption session.

I know at a point in time,we shall have activists that shall fill that kangaroo house, take real mandate as a block from the MDM to help us advance the noble liberation course.

Those who believe in peace must plan and prepare like those who believe in war. Yes we can… Educate Mobilise Liberate!

The former MP, who clearly wishes he was still considered “Honourable”, is simply advising members of the public to perform their civic duty. If you are a member of the public who cares about a certain issue being discussed in parliament, you always have the option to advise your MP. As Eswatini citizens, we find out about what’s happening in parliament daily in the news and special programmes that cover parliament. The system is working, even though there are numerous areas that can be improved.

Gawuzela’s wife, LaZwide, was voted in to be a Member of Parliament to replace the seat left by Gawuzela — by the same citizens that had voted for Gawuzela. Why does Gawuzela and his SWALIMO insist that they are “fighting for democracy” against the “Tinkhundla System”, when Tinkhundla is how they were democratically elected into offic?
