MBABANE — Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Zwemart Dlamini is getting so desperate to hide the truth about Thulani Maseko’s murder that he is contradicting himself while trying to point the finger away from him.

We have covered Zwemart’s involvement in Human Rights lawyer Thulani Maseko’s murder in February. For one, on the night of Thulani’s murder, Zwemart published an article claiming that the police were involved in the murder. However, as the investigation heats up and the truth is coming out, Zwemart is now saying “the Minister must produce one article where Government was accused of killing lawyer Thulani Rudolf Maseko.”

The point of Zwemart’s article is to counter a statement that was put out by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Thuli Dladla, who also revealed that the investigations were pointing to in-fighting within political organizations to be the reason for the targeted murder of Thulani Maseko. Zwemart is one of the people heavily implicated in the political in-fighting involving Thulani Maseko, as well as his ultimate and untimely death.

As soon as the statement came out, Zwemart has been working overtime to point the finger at Government and the King himself. The funny thing is that while Zwemart writes a lot trying to justify his tall tales, he leaves the evidence against his own words right in the open. For example, that article where he accuses the government for killing the lawyer is still up on the Swaziland News website and Facebook page. Also, right next to the same article where he says “the Minister must produce one article where Government was accused of killing lawyer Thulani Rudolf Maseko”, there is another Swaziland News article with a title literally claiming that Thulani Maseko was killed by the state, as shown below:

It is clear why this madness is strong within Swaziland News, the net is closing in on who really killed Thulani Maseko, and Zwemart knows that his best bet is to pollute public discourse with ZERO proof by saying things like “the lawyer was not killed by Government as an institution but the main suspect is Mswati”. Where’s the proof of any of this?

Zwemart thinks he is a critical thinker as shown by his attempt to separate the head of State from the State — when he first linked the police to the death of Thulani Maseko, he claimed that they were cooperating with the shooter and that the officers who responded deliberately chose not to chase the suspects even after being told where they went. He says that the police were covering up for the murderers and let them escape. However, in this latest article, he is trying to convince us that the King’s “secret killing squad” did the job, not Government as an institution. The police are part of Government as an institution, so which is which, Zwemart? Is Government not involved or is the Government responsible?

If it were up to Zwemart, he would just be saying that the King himself pulled the trigger on the lawyer. In fact, as he has been working over time to further paint the picture of His Majesty King Mswati III as a movie villain, Zwemart published a story claiming that the King shot one of his officers this week — that the King himself pulled the trigger, action movie style. There was zero evidence on this story, just Zwemart saying “one person told me that this happened so I’m going to tell you about it with zero evidence or corroboration whatsoever — just believe me because I said so!”

Zwemart is doing all he can to plant stories in the minds of his readers which make his chosen enemy seem like the most evil person in the world — Zwemart wants us to look at him as the under-dog hero bravely revealing secrets of injustice while fighting the most merciless villain in history. This works with people who have stopped thinking or reading anything else besides online propaganda against Eswatini. Otherwise, to the rest of us, Zwemart is just exposing himself in these attempts to control the public narrative about a truth that will eventually come out. Zwemart’s lawyers should advise him better — all these fame-seeking public confessions and contradictions will become the noose of justice hangs him with someday.
