I recently read an article from Seth Godin’s website that describes his 30 years of projects. I was inspired. 30 years of constant output — different fields, different mediums, and different level of responsibility, but the same practice and dedication to ship. He spoke on his failures as well as successes, but what stuck out to me is the ethic.
Someone doesn’t work like that without outlining what he won’t do. Laying out expectations were important. He is the opposite of mediocre, always ready to see what life is about.
Mediocrity scares me. The thought that my life will descend into normal pushes me into new experiences.
What is “normal” — I rarely take the time to make it clear, and what I have found is that when I lack direction, when I don’t define things, I can iterate and make things better. So I think this Medium post is a great place to start.
