The Toronto Maple Leafs are known for having one of the best offences in the league. They have 3 great rookies led by Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander who all led the team with points last year. Matthews received the Calder trophy in 2017 which is given to the best rookie in the NHL.
Mitch Marner had a career season last year with 60 points in 47 games played, Auston Matthews had 42 points in 33 games played and William Nylander who brings great speed and has great chemistry with Auston Matthews which makes Matthews a better player.
After losing to Boston in game 7 of the playoffs the Leafs went out and picked up one of the best defenders in the league: Tyson Barrie, who used to play for the Colorado Avalanche. He was one of the assistant captains on the team. He led the Colorado Avalanche’s defense in most points by a defender. Tyson Barrie brings a whole new addition to the Leafs and is a big upgrade for their defensive core. Barrie brings great leadership, experience and skill to the team.
The Leafs also have one of the best offensive defenseman in Morgan Reilly. Last season he had a career year with 20 goals and 52 assists.
The next reason why I think the Leafs will win the Stanley Cup this year is because of their stellar starting goalie Frederik Andersen. Andersen earned the William M. Jennings trophy which is awarded to the goalie/goalies who have played 25 games and have given up the fewest goals in the league. Frederik Andersen came to the Leafs in 2016. Andersen started his Maple Leaf career in 2017 as the starter and has been the starter ever since. Since joining the Leafs, the team have made the playoffs every year.
Finally, I think this is the year for the Leafs. For the fact that they have one of the best offences in the game as well as some of the best players such as Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Anderson in goal. Together they will help bring the Stanley cup home to Toronto.
