“Professionally Underdeveloped”

(but paid!)

So its a really weird thing when you go through life as the student, the subordinate and then in a matter of months you are Beyonce. (Ok, so I pushed it but you know what I mean…) I’m a boss.

No seriously, I spent my summer frantically editing my resume, submitting it to jobs I absolutely did not want, and it was almost as if I would cry on cue when my boyfriend mentioned anything about my erratic behavior.

I’d like to expand on my “ ‘yonce” though — I’m supervising 7 (or 8?) interns. Hardly a boss but more like a graduated R.A.? It’s funny I wanted to start this blog when I had just two interns and then before I knew it — I had 3, 6, 7 and NOW there are rumors of an 8th. Now months later I have to sit here and recall the dumb shit the first two did while trying to woosah my way though the dumb shit they do now.

Now, I don’t know if I mentioned this but my role already has me coordinating a month long program for 20+ adults and so on top of that I have a small professionally underdeveloped team.

Disclaimer: I am grateful. I always said I wanted management experience. BUT YA’LL… it is really very hard to not want to just teach a few lessons to these youths.

So alright, I know what you are thinking “but we were all young and dumb / they are there to learn from their mistakes / your role is to teach them to be better, etc”. yes yes yes all nice and true but sometimes I really just wanna push them on the forehead (a “mush”).

Enough about frustrations. Let the stories begin.
