As what I would consider to be a typical twenty year-old male, I sometimes struggle to feed that singular, idiosyncratic voice with which we all seem to be blessed. The meek are faintly aware of it. It whispers and sulks in the dark corners of their consciousness, longing to take center stage for an act or two. On the other hand, the greats unleash it. Whispers fall by the wayside as their voice screams and imposes its will on the world. The rest of us seem to fall somewhere in between. We all want to be world-beaters. Whether we seek to be Titans, Tycoons, or Tyrants, we all want to make the world move. In the words of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul in the new musical Dear Evan Hansen (which is awesome; give it a listen) I’ve learned to slam on the break/ Before I even turn the key”. So, for lack of a more clever metaphor, it’s time to start my engine and join the race.

In its essence, that’s what this blog will be about. I’m simply giving my perspective on the myriad of things that truly move me. Whether I’m moved to joy, respect, rage or somewhere in between is something we’ll all have to wait and see. This won’t be a blog that’s focused on a singular topic or issue. Nothing currently dominates my interest enough to write about it exclusively. So all you blogs that are fitness fanatics, wellness well-wishers, and life and times of ye ole yogi, I salute you. You have more focus and concentration in your little finger than I have in my entire body. I, in contrast, am in love with too many things to marry one at the moment. I’ll play the field.

Expect nothing less than the opinions, musings, and meditations of one seeking to contribute to the beautiful chorus of human interpretation. I do almost nothing but consume media and write. So I essentially watch the world, listen and view other’s interpretations of the world, and I also give my own (while sometimes cheating and making my own world altogether). That’s what we’ll be doing here. From Sondheim to Sendak, Jordan to Jason Robert Brown, Keynes to Keats, Rakim to Religion, Policy to Mask of the Phantasm, everything is on the table and up for discussion.

So as an homage to the twitter tendencies of one of my favorite writers/composers, I simply say, “Let’s go”.
