@TheMotet perform @TheWarehouse

The Motet — coutesy of LiveLoud & The Motet

@TheMotet stops in Fairfield, CT @FTCPresents at The Warehouse on Saturday, promoting its most recent recording, Totem. Though the funk band has had a rotating line up since forming in 1998, New England has been well represented by bassist Garrett Sayers, one of the original members. The latest iteration of the band now includes his brother, Drew, on Saxophone, as well as new vocalist Lyle Divinsky, also of New England. The Motet are driving the Nu Funk movement, as heard on the soulful and groovy new release produced by Soulive/Lettuce guitarist Eric Krasno.

“There was a month and a half between the time I joined the band and when we went into the studio,” explains Divinsky. “I wound up writing the lyrics and melodies to four songs, and re-wrote the lyrics to two. It gave me and the band an opportunity to really connect musically. We’re deeply proud of this album and it’s very exciting to have this new material to push out as we begin this next phase of The Motet’s journey.”
