Macro Profiles Part 4: P
This one is the most exciting one I think. Protein, to me, represents the future. Carbs are the past, Fat is the transition from past to future. Fat is the present.

I’m trying to build a diet that is designed to burn fat for energy and protein to build muscle. Protein is key to doing this. Right now as I’m learning more about it, I’m using a protein supplement (muscle milk) I drink a shake during different times a day. Mostly split before and after a work out and occasionally in the form of a protein bar during the day when I’m feeling hungry. (I used to grab twice bars, so I feel like I’m making better choices)
I’ve started with Muscle Milk, because it was the most recognizable brand I could find. I had heard about it before. I’ve heard from quite a few people that there are much better alternatives, I want to know more about these. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
Devlynn has recently switched to a new protein shake that she quite likes. It’s a vegan protein, that manages a high amount of protein while not sacrificing flavor. She’s made a great post about it on her Medium!
You may have noticed these last posts seemed a little different than the first few in the series. I wanted to call this out because, this speaks directly to what this Medium is all about. Telling a story about weight loss when you don’t know anything about weight loss, will always have one theme consistently present. I’m learning! I’m trying new things, I’m trying to hone in on my voice through the blog. I’m starting to really get comfortable on Medium, and I’m finding that I love posting here! So thank you for reading, please share this and Devlynn’s medium. We love seeing Medium notifications; and love telling this story. I promise, it’s just beginning. 🤖
Thanks for reading here on Medium! Come find Devlynn and I on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat! And now BEME! @themattrebelo
I wanted to briefly mention another project that I’m working on. It’s called Up All Night. This is a writing/film project that myself and my writing partner Derek are working on. There will be more about this in the future, I just wanted to put the line in the sand here.
Lastly, I wanted to call out Evan Manley! Evan has a great blog here on Medium, and quite a bit of content on Facebook! He’s making some great stuff, and you should check it out.
