Iranian regime complicit in war crimes in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Thursday morning Aljazeera reported the ‘US and Russia reach a deal on ceasefire in Syria’s Aleppo.’

Back on Wednesday 20 April, the Voice of America reported that Moscow claims its presence in Syria [was] ‘aimed [only] at terror groups such as Islamic State and the al-Qaida-linked Jabhat al-Nusra.’

In Aleppo over the last 10 days hundreds of civilians have been killed. Many women and children and also hospital workers.

Analyst Genevieve Casagrande of the Institute for the Study of War heeded warning as reported on April 20.

Looking at Russia’s bolstered military assets for ‘combatting ISIS’ Dr. Casagrande warned “these types of military assets aren’t necessarily used; you don’t actually need them to fight ISIS.”

In early April, weeks before the Russian airstrikes over Aleppo, EU diplomatic Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini had expressed reservations on Russia’s implication in Sryia.

Ms. Mogherini said ‘the ceasefire in Syria has now been in place for six weeks [and] we are concerned by the recent violations’.

On Tuesday the National Council of Resistance of Iran published a statement in English from Muwaffaq Nyrabia, vice-president of the opposition group Syrian National Coalition. Mr. Nyrabia points out that ‘the brutal onslaught on Aleppo is clearly aimed at thwarting the political process.’

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance described the Russian-backed airstrikes as a “war crime.”

Also “strongly condemning” the Iranian regime, saying that ‘Assad’s forces are being backed on orders of the mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.’

Defiant of fundamentalism, Mrs. Rajavi added that ‘the perseverance of the Syrian people and opposition, especially in the heroic Aleppo, is a model worthy of praise that will never be forgotten.’

Russia and Iran may be in breach of at least one of the three imperatives agreed by the 17-nation International Syria Support Group (ISSG) listed as: Ensuring Humanitarian Access, Achieving a Nationwide Cessation of Hostilities and Advancing a Political Transition.
