The love story between Arjuna, one of the Pandava princes from the epic Mahabharata, and Chitrangada is a fascinating tale of romance and bravery.

According to Mahabharata, there was a princess of Manipur named Chitrangada. The King of Manipur Chitravahana who was her father believed in following Matriarchal rules and it was decided her daughter’s children will be the heir to the throne.

Chitrangada was well skilled in archery, politics ,policy and known for her beauty, valor, and prowess in warfare. She inherited these traits from her father. Her father trained her in such way that she was able to take the responsibilities as King in future. Although she was mostly dressed as a man she had the effortless beauty to die for.

In one such incidence, when she was out on a hunting spree with her friends, Arjuna made fun of them thinking them as young boys. He also made fun of their capability. This was during the exile time of Arjuna and he was wandering from north to south and east to west of the akhand bharat.

This infuriated Princess Chitrangada and she challenged Arjuna for one to one fight, but Arjuna ignored. This way she discovered the woman inside her, felt attracted towards him and eventually falls for him.
