Photos of the week: “Timket”; the greatest Ethiopian festival of the year
The Ethiopian Orthodox celebration of Epiphany comes up every January 19 (or 20 on Leap Year), corresponding to the 10th day of Terr following the Ethiopian calendar. It is used in commemorating the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist at River Jordan. It is the biggest and most colorful festivals among Orthodox Christians in the country.
