Temple tableau

Women in India demand entry to temples and religious shrines.

“May I enter?”
“This place isn’t for your gender”.

“But I have just come to pray.”
“The temple’s purity is at stake.”

“I’m impure because I have a uterus?”
“No, because you do not have a penis.”

“And how is the penis better?”
 “It makes man a procreator.”

“Does it push out babies?”
“I do not wish to continue this.”

“Then may I have a word with God?”
“No, he does not answer to a woman’s call.”

“But I talk to him every day.”
“Well, you cannot see his face any way.”

“Well, he’s no longer in there.”
“Really? The idol’s still in place.”

“Yes, but he’ll never stay behind a barricade.”
