What a thought provoking piece; a helicopter view of where we’re at.
A lot of it affirmed concepts and positions we’ve been coming to know through our little social innovation lab aimed at improving youth wellbeing in New Zealand (www.lifehackhq.co).
And you’ve also highlighted the frustrations we’ve faced. Under-investment. An expectation from funders of short-term outcomes. And no overarching commitment to social innovation as a sector in itself. Just ad hoc blobs of money thrown here and there.
You’ve made me curious to analyse where we’re at in our country, relative to some of the figures you quote in the UK. It seems to me we’re very much in the discovery phase in this country. (Or perhaps I’m just late to the party, who knows?)
