I was lucky enough to have someone remind me of these very things when my daughter was born. I rest easy knowing I gave up big money and a dose of ego in exchange for near total time with her in her early years. These thoughts are a precious gift for your own kids. So don’t focus on the regret but on the fact that you’ve given them the gift of knowledge so that they will make the right choices for their own kids. And there will be lots of time to make up with your grandkids for sure. Best of luck man.
