31 August 2018 — Even-Mindedness
‘The quality that is precious is the quality of even mindedness in all situations. (Sri Sathya Sai Baba).
This quote popped into my mind as I sat to write this blog and I realised in one fell swoop that I most certainly have not exhibited ‘the quality of Even=Mindedness today. Perhaps the opposite of Even-Mindedness is Worry and that is most certainly what I have been doing. Not even worrying about myself but about someone close to me. We all have free choice and who am I to attempt to take this away from someone else even if I believe that following my advice would help the person in question to solve their problems and redeem the situation about which they are angry and upset.
But I don’t know that. My rational mind says that they would but I don’t know that on all levels and perhaps the intuitive mind of the person in question knows that even if the rational mind is not acting as efficiently in the moment as it could do, the action is necessary in order that lessons might be learnt. As the old adage goes, ‘we learn through our mistakes’.
On reflection I feel it is certainly me who is the perturbed if not crazy person and my energy would be better spent putting my own world to rights.
So the question I need to ask myself is ‘what am I avoiding facing in my own life by getting involved in someone else’s’ and I need to remember that ‘the quality that is precious is the quality of even-mindedness’.
