Yes, It’s About Misogyny
If you can read, you can’t deny: misogyny’s what drove this guy
It’s rare to see a murderer like Rodger leave behind
So clear a guide to what was going on inside his mind.
We do not need to wonder why: he took care to confess
That he killed because he blamed all women for his loneliness.
I’d say that’s pretty cut-and-dried, but many search for ways
To lay the blame on politics, or women, or the gays.
It seems impossible to me that people could forget
The woman-hate that he made clear here, here, and here — and yet
So many voices cry out that there simply has to be
Another explanation here besides misogyny.
It’s guns, it’s drugs, it’s mental health, but don’t you dare suggest
That misogyny is relevant and needs to be addressed.
For, after all, he killed men, too, so doesn’t that negate
All attempts to blame this crazy massacre on woman-hate?
NO, IT REALLY FUCKING DOESN’T. ARE YOU STUPID? CAN’T YOU SEE
THAT THE MAN HIMSELF SAID THIS WAS ALL ABOUT MISOGYNY?
It’s not a big enigma, guys; the man came out and said,
“I hate women ‘cause they won’t fuck me, and so I’ll make them dead.”
For a year on PUAHate, he threw angry, sexist fits,
Calling for a “revolution” against everything with tits.
And don’t forget, this wasn’t just a random killing spree;
It started as a failed assault on a sorority.
So, all you men (it’s mostly men) who still cannot admit
That misogynistic culture might have have played a role in it,
Be ready for the rest of us to find your words suspect
And wonder what it is you’re really trying to protect.
