The Path We Share
It’s currently 12:24am on a Saturday night. Somewhere, in some bar, there’s a 19 year old kid seeing his high school friends for the first time since being back from school. At that same bar theres probably a group of newly graduated University students about to part ways and say goodbye to the friends they made over the past 4 years.
Somewhere in between these two seemingly polar extremes, theres me.
I’m sitting at a desk staring at an endless list of practice passages for my looming MCAT in August. I clearly wish to be in one of the aforementioned groups above.
It’s tough to find motivation in studying for this behemoth of an exam. After every question set I can sense my mind drift away into a day dream. Whats even more unfortunate is that i’m not even thinking about anything exciting. Most of the time I’ll think of the most mundane things, for example: how long I should be roasting my chicken breast in the oven tonight, whats Lebron Jame’s shoe size, and most importantly is 50% chance of precipitation really indicative of anything?
Perhaps I’m writing this because I know that out there, somewhere, there’s someone going through this test much like I am. Someone who shares this journey of pondering shoe sizes and culinary timings.
Or perhaps I’m writing this because I don’t want to keep reading organic chemistry passages.
Either way, this journey is shared by all of us, so welcome aboard. A journey that I hope to continually update. To those who are on the MCAT grind, we can do this, and to the kids at the bar, I’ll see you in August.
