Freedom

What is Freedom? Well according to Merriam-Webster it is defined as:
1: the quality or state of being free: such as
a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action
b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : independence
c : the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous freedom from care
d : ease, facility spoke the language with freedom
e : the quality of being frank, open, or outspoken answered with freedom
f : improper familiarity
g : boldness of conception or execution
h : unrestricted use gave him the freedom of their home
2
a : a political right
With this definition we see that find that true and absolute Freedom is an absence of all things. Responsibility, wants, needs, or restraints from anything mentally or physically that would hold someone back. An Absolute emptiness of everything. This extreme isn’t practical in the real world. Everyone has cares, worries and responsibilities. This is nothing new. We also find the word Freedom used the the constitution. It reads a follows:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
We have heard right Wing-Ring Conservatives preach about Freedom of speech and religion for decades now. Though the left loves those parts of the Constitution too, they also recognize the freedom of assembly and the right to do it peacefully and as of late the freedom of the press. Though POTUS and his underlings would have you believe other wise, the press have been practicing their constructional right as given to them by the founding fathers. With the President calling any and all news organizations that oppose “ Fake News”. It sets a precedent that his voters have have accepted as a real talking point. Being from the rural south I can completely understand why they voted for him on the basis of jobs. The south is all about barley scrapping by and just trying to make it. I get it. But this man in office, the man you voted for, is trying to suppress the truth by deeming all news that calls him out fake and corrupt. Then he has Stephen Miller come on TV and tell the world that “ The president will not be questioned” and “ He is never wrong”. If this isn’t the start of a dictator “ish” regime then I don’t know what is. Along with the POTUS having his daughter in-law Lora Trump post a video on social media talking about “ Real News”. This administration has shown its willingness to toss these constitutional freedoms aside if it gets in the way of their agenda. His reach into the press, along with people like Alex Jones, has created a situation where information could possibly come from one source and one source only. The Donald. This sounds familiar right? Sounds a little like a certain North Korea doesn’t it?Freedom of the press is tightly controlled by the state. Article 67 of the North Korean Constitution protects freedom of the press and freedom of the press. In practice, however, the government only allows speech that supports it and the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea. As of 2017, North Korea occupies the last place on Reporters Without Borders’ annual Press Freedom Index. Kim Jong-un is continuing the tradition of his family and controlling his people through a single media source. His people are brain washed into believing he is a god and his will is absolute. If we as Americans allow the POTUS and his underlings to get away with this kind of authoritarian practice, we could one day be in the shape of North Korea. It only takes a few generations.
