Two projects selected for The Tech + Arts Incubator will create new experiences with new technology

Artist Marpi was selected as part of The Tech +Arts Incubator and will work to bring his project to life at The Tech Museum of Innovation in Spring 2019.

Artists will put a unique spin on emerging technology in two new experiences opening spring 2019 at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, California. The artists will work with some of the world’s most innovative tech companies to bring their creations to life as part of The Tech + Arts Incubator, made possible with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Unfolding Nature
Artist: Marpi
Location: Poland and San Francisco
Technology partners: HTC VIVE, Leap Motion
Project: A digital terrarium of creatures that have been shaped and personalized by visitors. The creatures live and evolve together in a menagerie that is always changing, never the same.
Technologies featured: AI, VR, motion sensors

RESONANCE
Artists: Yves Peitzner Lab, featuring Yves Peitzner, Jelena Gregov and Felipe Sanchez Nuna
Location: Munich and Berlin
Additional support: Future Fires in San Francisco
Technology partners: Plantronics, Leap Motion
Project: A multi-sensory experience that encourages participants to become performers using sound and motion in a creative exploration of water.
Technologies featured: motion sensors, adaptive audio, generative audio

The Yves Peitzner Lab will spend the next few months creating an experience that features motion sensors, adaptive audio and generative audio for visitors at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, CA.

The Tech reviewed more than 120 applications after a worldwide call for proposals that utilized one or more emerging technologies in an interactive experience for all ages. The artists whose proposals were selected received support from The Tech, technology partners and a $50,000 grant to create their experience.

The Tech’s new initiative helps build a bridge between artists and Silicon Valley’s tech community, enabling artists to create digital experiences that engage audiences in new ways.
