A Dead Priest, Flames, and Up-Armored Police Vehicles

Today’s round-up of land rights stories begins in South Africa, where one local police force has decided to buy military armored vehicles to respond to land invasions and riots. Elsewhere in South Africa, a priest who allegedly invaded a neighbor’s piece of land was found hanged, then the neighbor’s home was set ablaze.

In Nigeria, ten people were killed in a land dispute between two villages that have been warring over boundaries since 1957! In Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, former President Goodluck Johnathan and some ministers stand accused of land grabs.
