Trust. Loyalty. Honesty.
“Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn.” -Benjamin Franklin
Today, June 8th, 2017, I started my day with two things in mind. I wished my oldest friend a happy birthday. We grew up four doors apart across the street and are not even a month apart in age. We went to school together until college, and I still talk to him now and then, but I never forget his birthday. Second, I wondered just how the testimony of FBI Director, excuse me, former FBI Director James Comey would play out. A smear from the committee? Rage from Comey? Stupidity from Rubio? Well, called that one.
Smash cut to four hours later, and I’m now sitting in my car [read as rolling office] at work in the field, filling out paperwork, checking email, and listening to the beginning of Comey’s testimony on YouTube from my smart phone.
I hear him say how Mr. Trump asked, nay, requested, nay, somewhat demanded Mr. Comey’s loyalty, and suddenly the file cabinet in my mind pulls a quote out that I swear to god I could hear in the voice of my sophomore year United States history teacher.
I felt compelled to look it up, and check my pulse to be sure I wasn’t having a stroke, and merely wonder how well I recalled it. And, yet, there it was.
Straight from the mouth of a former American President. The honesty… about loyalty.
And that’s when it dawns on me. The loyalty of James Comey is absolutely unwavering, but not to Trump. No. James Comey is a God Damn Patriot and his loyalty stood firm and true with the citizens of the USA. If that isn’t loyalty I certainly do not know what is.
Then, we have the moron asking loyalty. Remember? This one?
Read that date. It’s not faked. I pulled this myself. Precisely three years ago, to the exact day, Donald J. Trump tweeted what you read above.
Fate, it would seem, is not without a sense of humor. The most disloyal, untruthful, unwanted, lowest of the mother fucking low, mysoginist, sexist, racist, gluttonous slovenly excuse for a human being, somehow became the leader of the free world, only to spit in the face of everyone he represented, backed by the Republicans of Washington, that are either too ignorant or apathetic to stop and remove this man, who’s clearly in way over his head, or mentally unstable, when it would take them literally one damn day to do.
And so you, all of you, slowly, surely, and little by little, used your voice. Then, so did others. Then we found a platform to express it that the American president uses regularly. And suddenly…
…you built a Resistance.
Just five days ago, hundreds upon thousands, possibly over a million banded together around the world to demand the truth from the white house and the GOP. And you marched. And it made headlines. And it made Trump irate.
People, it’s working. And after today, we may well be soon getting off Mr. Trump’s wild ride.
But, the resistance cannot stop there. Members of Congress are using Trump as a means of distraction to attempt to gut affordable health care, repeal the Dodd-Frank, gerrymander further, and lord knows what else with someone like McConnell still in command of that ship.
But the resistance shows me something. It shows were no longer going to just take it on the chin. It shows me, we’re not going to allow the Republicans to bleed America dry for shareholders to line their pockets with more gold.
Remember Fight Club? Remember Brad Pitt’s monologue as Tyler Durden?
“I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.”
…either he’s the second coming of Nostradamus, or Palahniuk is a time traveler.
By the end of Former Director Comey’s testimony, I had taken away three key points.
Trump lied, several times.
Comey did not trust him, and with good reason, did not bow to his demand for loyalty.
Russia in someway affected our election, likely with the help of, or at the request of, one Donald John Trump.
….and he had the audacity to ask for loyalty. What a mother fucking conman.
We’re not going to give up Mr. Trump. Not until you’re no longer a cancer on country. We will not stop. And we will not be silenced.
The Truth Hurts.
