Lessons of the business woman

I have to say that it is so hard to be a young woman in the business world but at the same time is is the most invigorating feeling ever.

I love what I do and I pride myself in doing it well. Growing my business and progressing slowly but with attention to detail, trying different new things to gain more customers. Trying out different approachers, networking and building meaningful relationships. Making mistakes and assuming responsibility for them, learning and moving forward.

However, the problem started when I tried to be a true leader and follow my heart and instincts. The problems started when I did not want to take advice from people… When I wanted to do things my own way and not to adhere to norms followed by most. I hate status quo. I do not want to copy and paste from somewhere else.

On my entrepreneurial journey I have met a lot of people who wanted to “help me”, even thought I did not ask for any help. I learnt that after while they were pushing their ideas onto me, trying to control me.

Now, I have leaders who I look up to- but those are real successful people with real experience who built real companies with real customers.

This whole notion of self-proclaimed motivational writers, startup CEO’s , self-made millionaires is a lot of hot air. People who do not have real companies or experience yet are active in the field, on social media, writing posts about their expertise, networking.

The people who really work hard know that it is a constant battle and unfortunately there is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs. Their careers, their accomplishments, the success of their companies speak for themselves, they do not have to self promote.

Plus it’s ok to make mistakes and experiment, other wise you will never learn.

My favourite quote: ”I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Thomas Edison
