A way-too-early prediction of how history will remember Trump’s presidency
Whether we want to believe it or not, we are living in an age that will change the future of politics forever. That is a scary and daunting thought. We, as Americans, are the authors of this nation history and we will decide how it will be remembered. So, with Trump in the White House, or the Mar-a-Lago, what will this nation become, and more importantly, what will this nation look like when he is done.
Foreign Policy- Trump and his cabinet will not communicate with other nations in any way that we have seen in the past. I predict that Trump will strengthen ties with some nations, while hurting us with some of our current alies. I believe that our relationship with Israel will be greatly strengthened during Trump’s years in office. And, obviously, we will grow in our relationship with Russia. I think that Trump will put Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada in a tough spot. Canadians do not support Trump and the changes that he is proposing to the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA. Trudeau will feel pressure from the citizens of Canada to stand up for their beliefs while also keeping close ties with one of their greatest allies. While all of this is happening, we will be beefing up our own military. Growing the Air Force, providing more planes and more ships for the Navy, and increase the size of the U.S. Army. Trump will be planning to make our Military stronger than it has been in years.
Climate Change- I completely waiver from the typical Republican’s agenda on this front. The next four years will shape the fate of our climate in a huge way. Sadly, Trump has already made serious executive decisions that will effect our planet. He had no set plan for climate change in his platform during his campaign and has already began plans for building the Keystone XL Pipeline. These things could have major implications on our planet. If Trump and his cabinet do not decide to focus on clean energy and bettering our global climate we could be in grave danger for the future. It will take a band of concerned citizens to make a difference and raise awareness about saving our planet for future generations.
The Economy- One thing that Trump promised during his campaign was to rebuild the infastructure of our nation and put millions to work while doing it. With Trump’s immagration policy these jobs will be filled by American workers ready to work and boost our economy. Trump has also promised to cut corporate taxes and offer a one-time break to businesses who try to go overseas to avoid American taxes. Trump has also promised to cut personal taxes, by doing this Americans will have more money in their pockets to spend on what they want, boosting the economy even more. Expect our economy to take a big step forward in the next four years.
These are just a few of the many changes that we can expect in the coming years. I encourage everybody to remain active in politics and fighting for the changes you believe in. These next few years will shape the future of our nations politics and the world’s politics. It is up to us, as informed citizens, to make sure we have a say in what that outcome is.
“A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed it’s the only thing that ever has”- Margaret Mead
