Systems thinking, especially about the relationships between systems is very useful. As a system myself, I have come to recognize the constantly evolving set of ‘rules’ I use to understand myself and the world around me, the rules that for me define my relationships and actions, consciously when at all possible. When you speak about ‘culture’, you are talking about a complex set of overlapping and often contradictory sets of rules for a vast array of systems, some multiple of the billions that comprise humanity. The point of effective ‘tinkering’ seems to be the individual ‘rules’, the rules that define systems and what I call the ‘rules of engagement’ between systems. I like many of your ideas and your ways of thinking. It parallels the ‘scientific train of thought’ of TZM. Of course, Buckminster Fuller was at least decades ahead of his time. I look forward to reading more on your insights.
