Setting up a Desktop Wallet and Account
1Download the latest version of Ark Client (Ark Desktop Wallet) from: https://github.com/ArkEcosystem/ark-desktop/releases
2 Open the downloaded .exe file, allow changes, choose a destination folder, and then click the Install button:
3 Once the installation is complete, make sure the box next to “Run ArkClient” is checked and then click the Finish button
4The Ark Desktop Wallet will start up. In the Ark Client, click the Create Account button shown below:
5A ONE TIME message will pop up showing a 12 word passphrase. Please record the passphrase (specific to your wallet being created)
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
- THIS PASSPHRASE APPEARS ONLY ONCE AND IS NOT SAVED ON ANY DATABASE
- NEITHER ARK NOR THE_ARKADE OR ANYONE CAN HELP YOU REDEEM THIS PASSPHRASE IF YOU FORGET/MISPLACE IT
- BACKUP THIS PASSPHRASE SAFELY, DO NOT LOSE THIS PASSPHRASE
DO NOT LOSE THIS PASS PHRASE, IT IS NOT RECOVERABLE AT ALL —NEVER EVER EVER
6 Once you have recorded and stored your passphrase securely, click the Next button on the window showing your passphrase.
7 You will be prompted to enter the 3rd, 6th, and 9th words from your passphrase and then click the CREATE button:
8Once you enter all three words correctly, you will access your Ark wallet that you just created.
In the Ark Wallet, the long string of numbers and letters under “Address” is called your Wallet Address. This alphanumeric string is what you will need to provide to anyone who is trying to send Ark to your wallet. This string does NOT grant access to your wallet, only your 12 word passphrase can grant access. DO NOT share your passphrase with anyone. DO share your alphanumeric Wallet Address to users trying to send you Ark.
