The Beginning

pioneered by The Path Church L.A.

The Initiative//Reach people. Through the Arts.

Art impacts culture on many levels. From William Shakespeare’s plays to Michaelangelo’s Creation of Adam. From Van Gogh’s starry night to Andy Warhol’s pop art. Art and Artists have been influencing culture since the dawn of man. Art can evoke many emotions and ideologies. God created everything — like, He created creating, how awesome is that — so when we take back what is his, we redeem it. When we tune into God’s idea of creating, how much more can we influence the world, when we co-create with the master creator.

Why are we doing this?

Well young patron, we are doing this to see God’s love transform lives in the city of L.A.

Why the arts?

Dear friend the arts is the most influential & creative tool that we can use for God. The main area of focus will be on Creative Outreaches. Meaning going out in the streets of L.A. and with a loving attitude presenting the Gospel in an artistic way. When serving our community in this way we must have sober eyes, servant hands, ready feet, a compassionate heart, and a joyful soul. (Go and Do: Becoming a missional christian, By Don Everts)

The Avenue is…

Communal. Living incarnationally. Being present in the community. How can we transform a community if we know nothing about it? So we must do our homework. Let’s take a look at our dear friend Jesus Christ. The best example of incarnational living. He came into this world to live among a community, to which he would transform. He was able to transform the community by being present, developing relationships, and understanding the culture. Ultimately he would lay his life down to transform the world. But he first had to be part of this world.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Creative. We are art. We were breathed into life (gen 2:7). God molded us into existence ( psalm 139). The first account of art is God speaking light into creation. With his voice he created light and saw that it was good. We need to realize our roles as creative beings and our artisan nature. Gen 1:26–27 — Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” Understanding the creative nature of God is important in knowing that we will co-create with the Master creator—Isn’t that an astonishing thought.

Well—this is what The Avenue Initiative is about— it can be summed up in three words. Develop. Create. Go. Develop our creative gifts, Create our art work, and then Go out into the community.

Thank you for relinquishing your time to read this. Please stay tuned for more thought-provoking commodities & updates on our journey.
