YES! Startups are not offering strong equity packages. We’re, here, generally treating startup human resources here as employees rather than part of the team with whom our work would be impossible without them.

As someone in Human Resources, I couldn’t agree with this more. I spend more time on evaluating what the market is doing and how others are recruiting in Austin and understanding what top talent wants. But when I present what I feel needs to be done in order to get those top talent based on my research I get shut down because they know better. Or I get kept out of the loop on these big decisions that affect how I create a hiring strategy.
