Get Ready to Throw Away Fewer Groceries
Nicole Dieker

Honestly, if it doesn’t stink like rotten food, have mold/bugs, or show any other signs of spoilage, I’m probably not throwing it out regardless of what the container says. That said, I do use the ‘best by’ or ‘sell by’ dating to remind myself how long something has been in my fridge. Even if still technically usable, chances are that if I haven’t used something up in a couple of years, then it probably isn’t worth the fridge real estate it’s taking up.
