I always thought of the wage gap as women earning less than men on an equivalent apples-to-apples comparison (that is, less money for exactly the same responsibilities, hours, and workload).

Isn’t the original article explaining why differences may exist in total career earning potential and is that really the same thing?

I would think that ‘pure’ wage gap and differences in lifetime earning opportunities would have very different problem statements…
