What it’s like to hold your arm up for multiple hours straight
Last Sunday on CBS’s Big Brother episode, James won the dubstep competition to be crowned the HOH of this week. To stay in the competition, the houseguests had to hold their arm up above their head while stepping over a rope thing that went back and forth throughout the duration of the competition. If a houseguest’s arm moves too far down (literally like an inch), they will lose the competition.

When the rules of the competition was announced I would have bet ten small puppies that the comp wouldn’t last more than three hours tops because who has that type of muscular endurance that they would be able to keep their arm in the air for a duration that was longer than that? Fortunately no one was around so I did not have to give away ten nonexistent small puppies because APPARENTLY everyone is just like athletic?????? and they all lasted for at least more than an hour (except for one but he’s not important) and the last three standing were competing for more than six hours and told each other that they could go on for more but they don’t want to. This also begs the question: what is going through the minds of the players who were disqualified long before that six hour mark and how pissed are they that they have to sit outside for six whole hours AWAKE watching people with their arm up and stepping over a rope instead of sleeping?
Anyway, I chose to test my skills to see how I would compare to the rest of the house guests if I were in the BB house this season and lucky for you all, I have logged my experience by the hour.
Hour 0:
- I really have to pee, should’ve thought through before starting
- My blood is leaving my hand and I feel tingling
- I got a cramp in my neck from bending down weirdly to get something
- it’s not that bad actually…. well I can’t feel it BUT it’s not bad anymore
- Conclusion: I would’ve TOTALLY CREAMED Paul in the HOH comp

Hour 1:
- I don’t really know what I’m doing with my life
- I probably should’ve stretched before
- My hand feels like it’s about to cramp, my pinky’s gone
- a weird feeling down my arm happens when I breathe

Hour 2:
- I’m kind of hungry but I don’t really know what’s gonna happen
- Nothing’s happening to my arm right now. should concern be happening???
- should I sleep or eat [side not: I usually have this problem anyway but my arm was up when I was contemplating it at that particular moment so I included it]
- What am I gonna do when I take a shower?
- I think the arm thing is is making me tired
- I’m gonna go for dinner now
- I’m doing great if i do say so myself
- APPARENTLY it’s a lot harder to do while standing up [spoiler: I was sitting /laying down with my arm up in the air because I didn’t think that it would be different]

Hour 3:
- I was doing well but my mom was coming downstairs and I automatically put my arm down
Conclusion:
I want to say that I would have been really freaking good at this HOH comp because my mom wouldn’t be there to come downstairs and scare me and I would have crushed everyone there, but I know for a fact that I would have been like the second one out, if not the first (because, you know, the whole sitting/lying down thing for most of those hours).
k bye.
