7 Of The Most Revealing Things About Any Person

1. The things we laugh at

Back in school many people laughed at people who were fat. Or people who were geeks, nerds, or whatever bullshit stereotype society has made up.

I guess that hasn’t changed in 2016.

I’ve witnessed people laughing at someone who is less capable than the person laughing. For example — if person A is great at maths, but person B is terrible, person A will mock person B.

Not to mention people laughing at those who are bully victims.

What someone laughs at tells you a LOT about who they are.

All it takes is to see what amuses somebody to know who they are and whether they’re worth befriending. So obvious yet so easily ignored.

When people laugh at you for being different, laugh at them for being the same. — Unknown

2. The videos we watch

Look through my YouTube history and you’ll see business videos and educational videos. 1% of the videos will be technology, hilarious cartoons, etc.

The types of videos you watch online says a lot about who you are. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is for you to decide.

3. The things we store on our smartphones

20 years ago this wouldn’t have even been a possibility. But in 2016 what we store in our smartphone says a lot about who we are.

If you ask the average person if you can use their smartphone, they’ll say NO before you finish your sentence. Why? People are protective of the pictures, videos, music, apps, and whatever else they don’t want you seeing.

4. Our computer/smartphone screensaver

The most revealing thing about a person when it comes to technology is — our screensaver. Lock screen photo. Wallpaper background. Etc, etc.

Personally my computers lockscreen image is the quote:

Think outside the cubicle.

Whatever image is on your lock screen/wallpaper says a lot about what’s on your mind. Or what’s important to you.

5. The questions we ask

You can judge a person based on the types of questions they ask. Or better yet, the questions people ask will tell you who they are.

The questions you ask often reveals what it is you’re focused on.

6. How we treat people who aren’t doing as well as we are

A great man shows his greatness by the way he treats little men. — Thomas Carlyle

No matter what your circumstances, there’s someone out there who’d love to be in your position.

Think about how people treat the homeless.

Some will look down on the homeless. Some will verbally abuse the homeless. Others will look at the homeless in disgust.

And then many of us will treat them equally and respectfully.

How we treat others regardless of success, wealth, status, health, or power says a lot about who we are.

7. How we feel about people who have “more” than we do

No matter how successful you are, there’s someone out there even more successful. Whether that means:

  1. Healthier
  2. Wealthier
  3. Better grades
  4. More achievements
  5. Better job
  6. More experience
  7. A slimmer body
  8. More followers

Or anything else that’s more than what you’ve done. Or more than what you have.

How you treat others who have “more” than you says a lot about who you are.
