Thanks for sharing your experience. I have had a much more positive experience with Soylent, with no digestive upset at all.
Soylent isn’t something I would drink every day, or every meal, but I use it as a time-saving meal option as needed. For example, on nights when I need to fit in a workout and do some housework, the last thing I want to do is meal prep for the following day’s lunch. So I can easily bring it to work as a quick, drinkable, healthy-ish lunch. Or if my husband is suddenly hungry for a second dinner at 9pm, we don’t have to scramble to cook and clean all the dishes again.
I agree with your assessment of the taste as ‘pancake batter’ or cereal. Since it’s meant as a meal replacement, I like that it tastes somewhat wheaty and hearty without being sweet. I do find it nice and filling so that I’m not craving more food, but that’s only when drinking it occasionally — I assume that having ONLY Soylent for a stretch of time would make me crave something to chew/crunch.
I definitely prefer to eat fresh, prepared meals, but having a backup like Soylent makes my life easier.
Sorry that you had such a bad time — sounds like you might be allergic to something in the mixture?
