The Solitary Cook

I believe it was Dennett who a few days ago posted a snippet from a Rumi poem along with one of her own lovely photos. I’d come across the poem a few weeks back, wrote down, then lost it. I was, and am, so grateful to her, as I was able to chase it down again and transcribe it someplace (so far) unlosable. Your photo and words remind me perfectly of it, especially on this sunny Sunday morning.

The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you

Don’t go back to sleep

You must ask for what you really want

Don’t go back to sleep

People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the worlds touch

The door is round and open

Don’t go back to sleep

~Rumi
