Always Act like you’re # 2
Even if you’re at the top of your game and №1 in what you do, you should be acting like you’re still at the bottom of the totem pole, and looking to rise. You should never lose that competitive edge or hunger to succeed and to do even better. There is ALWAYS better, and there’s always more that you are capable of achieving. However, if in your mind you have convinced yourself that there’s no more to achieve or do, you’re never going to have any desire to go even further. You only push your limitations, when you know you’re forced to grow.
Your mindset should always be, if I don’t grow I die. If I’m not out there aiming to achieve my greatest potential and truly pushing myself with all my energy, then I’m wasting my time. That should be the kick in the rear to push you even harder, because your time should never feel like it’s being wasted. If you lead a team of people, people will immediately be looking to you as an example. If you’re not on the front line willing to get dirty and have desire to kill it, guess what, neither will your team.
The fact of the matter is we all unconsciously feed off of each others energy. If you’re in the gym and see someone running fast, two things are going to happen. 1) You’re either going to feel like crap or 2) You’re going to start pushing yourself even harder. We need people out there who are going to push themselves, because whether or not people realize it, they can serve as a massive inspiration to force us to do better.
