There Is Wisdom to Be Gained in the Pain of Life
The following article is inspired from the quote by Tom Bodett, “What’s the difference between School and life? School teaches you the lesson and then gives you a test. Life gives you the test and then you receive the lesson.” Wouldn’t we all love life to be like school, whereby we wouldn’t have to learn the hard way some of the most painful lessons? Unfortunately, we all have painful experiences to go through in order to fully comprehend the gravity of the lesson that life wants to instill in us or that its trying to teach us. Success or failure isn’t measured by a percentile, but rather how you’ve managed to grow and adapt to the inevitable changes of life.
The good news is that we can always get better and improve. With every challenge that is our thrown our way by life, we can equip ourselves to handle it because of our past experiences. If it’s a new test that life gives you, remember that you are being demanded to get better as a person, and in the end you gain something very valuable: Wisdom. Many biblical references are made about the value of wisdom because the attainment of wisdom is the foundation of understanding. In proverbs 8, it States Take my instruction and not silver, And knowledge rather than choicest gold. 11"For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.”
When it seems like life is putting you through an enduring test, know that the lesson you learn afterwards will serve you greatly down the road. That is of course, provided you learned what it was that you were supposed too. Having that knowledge and understanding with you, will allow you to make better decisions in the future that will make you able to cope with the next challenge that may arise. The challenges of life are necessity for living and for growth. For we as humans, were meant on this journey to be in a constant state of growth, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
