I shot this editorial two years ago. Alice and me went to Rome for a week-end just to shoot because our model, Viola, lived there (she’s an actress and at the time we shot this project she was studying at EUTHECA — European Union Academy of Theatre and Cinema). It was november and we supposed to work inside an amazing club but the day before the shooting the place was no longer available. We had two days left before the departure, then we took the car and we went to the beach. Obviously it was rainy but there was a lovely church so we asked to a priest for the permission to work in there. I set the lights and when I turned them on the battery died on me so I had to use an external flash. We went against all odds that day!

It was not easy to work like that. I was freaked out because of our bad luck, Alice was upset thinking about the whole shooting and Viola was extremely under pressure. We shot two outfits in the church then we decided to look for another place when we realized that rain had stopped and there was an amazing sunset.

We took all our stuff and we shot the rest of the editorial on the beach. It was windy and freaking cold; I’ve never worked so fast! The result was astonishing, we were completely satisfied of the work and it’s still one of my favorite editorials.

I learned two things: first, be ABSOLUTELY sure about the location BEFORE taking the car and driving for 700km and, second, never give up, even if it’s the worst place and there’s the worst weather you’ve ever seen! I was lucky, after all. We were a great team.
