While the edge of winter still might linger in the air, Sydney this weekend looks like it will reveal the sun for just long enough for you to get out & do some things — just remember to take a jacket!

We’ve looked through the latest things to do on thingdoer.com to pick out our top five things to do this weekend in Sydney;

1. Go On A Pub Crawl Through Historic Sydney

Pub crawls don’t need to be just a mobile binge — they can also be educational! Sydney’s The Rocks district is home to a number of stories of the past couple of hundred years, and the walls of our oldest drinking establishments have heard them all. If you fancy yourself a self-made explorer, then you can start at the Lord Nelson & ask the right questions, otherwise you can find some more knowledgable folk to take you to all the best spots — Find out more here

2. Speakers Corner At The Domain

Hear ye, Hear ye, how do I get down from here?

Every Sunday from 2pm-5pm (since 1878) people have been carting milk crates, soap boxes & step-ladders into Sydney’s The Domain to share their thoughts, opinions, poems & conspiracies to whomever chooses to listen. Have something to say? This is the place to say it. Looking to spend an afternoon listening to an uncensored flow of ideas from anyone brave enough to say it? Then grab a blanket, bottle of wine & some snacks, and settle in for an afternoon of interesting ideas..

3. Do the Spit Bridge To Manly Walk

The best time to explore Sydney’s vast array of nature walks is when the sun is out, but the temperature is low. The Spit Bridge To Manly Walk is a great way to see Sydney’s waterways & Harbour, all the way out to the heads. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, take plenty of water & a camera. This trip can take anywhere from 2–4 hours depending on the amount of stops you take, but remember it’s not a race (unless it is) so take your time & plenty of photos.

4. Take A Road Trip To The Hunter Valley

The Grapes aren’t free (unless you’re really fast)

Less than two hours north of Sydney is the Hunter Valley Wine region, where you can escape for an afternoon, day, or the weekend, and participate in any number of pre-organised activities, or simply do your own thing. There’s a number of guides on what to do while you’re there (we have one here) or you can choose to join one of the group tours that will take you to cellar doors where you can taste & buy as many local wines as you can carry.

5. Visit A Local Market

Surry Hills Local Markets

Most suburbs across Sydney hold a local market on either Saturday or Sunday morning. The Surry Hills Saturday market is a great spot to wander around after grabbing breakfast on Crown street, and you can find clothes, Jewelry, produce, and even second-hand hardware. There’s usually a gold coin donation required on entry, and your best bet is to get in early before the good stuff runs out!
