Nantes is a lovely small city and has its own share of history, culture and beauty. Since acquiring a car from my very generous parents-in law, we’ve been doing day trips over the weekends and it has been a great way to discover cities close by
St. Nazaire Submarine Base
This place is apparently one of the five largest submarine bases built by the Third Reich in occupied France. It’s a great place to visit. Industrial, concrete-y and abandoned if not for the pigeons, one or two skater-kids or random tourist.
Unfortunately, we didn't do the guided tour as we happened to stop by on a Sunday on our way from somewhere else. Their website has all the details.
