What Really Matters in the End
I want to talk about something that not many of us really give thought to, or seldom pay attention to. And that is the question of “what are you doing with your life, and what is the picture for you on this planet?” More specifically what are we doing to make sure that we have lived up to our potential? I realize it’s hard to find a definite answer to the above, but somewhere in your life I am sure you’ve thought about why your life is not what you thought it was, or the way it should be. I am a strong believer in living your life by your standards and choices. It’s frightening to see someone merely existing, when they could be living. Yes this is a cliché, but when was the last time you decided, “I’ve had enough, I cannot live the same way I’ve been living any longer.” Doing the same thing every day when it is not something you want out of life is tragic. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.
My 12th grade teacher once asked us how old we were. We found it funny that he would ask that, so we all yelled out 17, 18, and some of us 19. He responded that he was 5 years old, much to our laughter. When asked why, he said that 5 years ago he took control of his life and started living rather than merely existing every single day that he woke up. So I ask you “how old are you, really?”
These are my personal insights because this is something I believe in, I see myself helping people to realize their true calling. You cannot move forward in your life if you are always looking in the rearview mirror. I think we learn more when someone is authentic, and someone who we can relate to. So I will tell you my biggest fear, right here right now. Although I am scared of most things, however, the one thing that truly frightens me to my core. The thing that really sends a shiver down my spine is to wake up one day…and realize that I am not the person that I set out to be. That I did not make it in life because I was somehow … (Insert clever excuse here). Don’t live your life avoiding what you really want, because when it matters the most you won’t have the time to do it. Thank you for your time.
