People open their hearts knowing it can be hurt, but hearts open people who are already hurt.

We personify the heart in movies, poems and music. Sometimes we find it to be the subject of the occasional Valentine’s Day card given to a loved one or the centerpiece for a practical exam. In other situations the heart is but a tangible object put in our hands and do on to it however we see fit.

It’s quite interesting actually. Some say they have “touched someone’s heart” and another can claim that they have “touched someone’s heart.” Both perfectly good sentences with ambiguous context being used by everyday people. Sometimes one’s heart may {metaphorically} be opened and sometimes it may {literally} be opened.

Hearts have the ability to give you life and equally take it.
You have the ability to give it life and equally take it.

So who’s more powerful?

Do you listen to your heart or tell it what to do?
Does your heart define who you are or do you define your heart?
Is a heart the reason for your death or are you the reason for your heart’s death?
Is your heart driven by money or does money drive your heart?
Does a heart command your actions or does your actions command your heart?

Bottom line is that the a person and their heart are equally powerful. How you use it is what truly matters.
