Bio-Sensory Hacking. The next “trend”. Bio/Psych manipulation with AR-VR-AI

Through the ages, technology has continually progressed towards better adapting us for this rapidly changing world. Sure we are the ones, who changed artificially altered the landscape of our surroundings, and modified the fabric of social interactions, but hey, we’re learning, and the stuff we are learning…. WOW.

Sensory manipulation, bio-feedback and calibration has been studied and applied for what seems like forever, but now, we are using that vast depository of knowledge (conditioned responses, NLP etc) and the latest sensor and hijacking technologies, (ECG, EEG, #VR and #AR) to create/improve Games, Education, Entertainment, Therapy and much much more…

I think it’s time to take a closer look at how far we’ve come.

Sensory Hijacking.

We Fool the eyes:

Augmented and Virtual Reality Technologies have come a very long way.

Either Superimposing artificial constructs into what you view (the Real World) or by replacing everything entirely.

AR

Adding to your view of the world. Both handheld 360AR and Hands-Free AR projects are showing up everywhere, you could say it’s trending, and why not? It’s pretty cool.

VR Games / telepresence space/ocean exploration and even earth travel (past or present with live or recorded 360VR video or image captures.) Reliving moments of time and sharing experiences is now possible

It is my understanding that most people have Vision as their dominant sense, So Imagine this area will be explored the most at first. How might our new technologies apply to entertainment, such as Film?

Changing the face of the characters in the film. You could be the Star of the next movie you watch!

Or changing the venue you watch the film in. Watch it with whomever you want, (friends, celebs regardless of where they were, or are) You can now watch films where ever you want. Even a Drive-In on the moon!

We Fool the ears, and this is only the beginning. Voice assistance and Home speakers are just now flooding the market. There is still much growth in this area for feedback and calibration for everything from grammar, dictation, language learning and NLP. Language barriers are disappearing rapidly.

We Fool the Body. Though it may seem like a joke to some, Haptic feedback and Haptic assistance add a whole new sense to the roster of playthings. Each new hijacked sense gets us one step closer to full immersion.

We Fool your sense of Presence :

We Fool the Vestibular system. Just not very well. Mostly by accident. Causing Nausea in some. This one is tricky. Motion, movement and lag time are all culprits. Resolution improvements help, but there are other solutions available that can help prevent these types of issues.

We will soon also Fool the nose. It’s not too hard. It may stay limited to a dozen smells for now, but with time and a better understanding of how to reproduce vast quantities of smells from a small list of chemicals things will advance quite rapidly. Where they become adopted as ‘the norm’ is still unsure.

But mostly we Fool the mind.

To give us new mental abilities

and or as treatment

We should also acknowledge that these new technological tools allow us to do something new.

Fool the subconscious, in very new and exciting ways.

AI is a tricky case. Bots, Assistants, will soon have Avatar Bodies in AR / VR environments so we should prepare for the possibility that this amazing new tech on the horizon could even possibly

Fool the heart. Falling in love with your AI. (movie Her)

The result of this collision between Sensory hijacking technologies and our minds?

A profound shift in how we share and perceive Life Experience.

A shift in our Geo-Spacial position on this earth by transporting our Minds OUT of our bodies for short periods of time.

And the ability to experience Time Travel

This is all very exciting, but I often wonder if we may also perhaps be

Fooling ourselves. There are some minor risks to all of this that shouldn’t be ignored.

We may inadvertently also have impacts on our evolution, if we successfully

Fool our Genes.

Is’ far from over. there are many senses left to commandeer.

The next few decades should be an age of discovery and experimentation.

Learning what we can do, and its’ effects.

We will push the boundaries of human development, cognition and biofeedback calibration tools.

It should get very weird and exciting.

What is the point of all of this, is it just because it’s awesome? No.

It is a fundamental shift in how our species interfaces with the world, information and each other. A necessary step in our evolution.

It will eventually impact our living and working environments.

And might even change how some of us live and travel.

I’m one of them. I love immersion and sensory hijacking.

I’ve even recently completed a terribly long research project on the topic, I look forward to sharing with you.

The world is changing at a break neck pace. Check out more articles I’ve written on the topic.

Bio-Hacking in the news.

what might be next?
