Gorilla Filmmaking
And you thought I spelled that wrong…
Yesterday I went out to film on a wet Sunday morning.
All I had with me was a GoPro and a Joby Gorilla Pod, as seen above.
The beauty of this mouldable tripod is that you can mount it anywhere.
The legs wrap around poles, branch, faces…
OK maybe n0t that far but you get the idea.
As a result you can get angles never thought possible.
Here are a few examples of yesterday:

This photo was taken at a low angle in the back field. I added a nice filter and some vibrant colour to it on my Instagram.
It reminds me of the Robert Frost poem, ‘The Road Not Taken’.
‘Then took the other, as just as fair’ ‘because it was grassy, and wanted wear’.

When I was experimenting with a different positions, it was cool to see the variety of viewpoints that cropped up.

There is some nice perspective going on here between the daffodils in the foreground and the trees in the background.
Normally you would see a vibrant green and yellow coming off these flowers, but the image looks more gritty and eery with black and white colour correction.
Experimentation is a big part of filmmaking and life.
Go out there today and conduct some of your own.
As Emerson put it,
‘All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.’
