In addition to the previous comments pointing out the false assumptions of aggregate-level revenue math, I’d just point out that, between the assumption that Mashable’s gutting of journalists will spin it off into ‘oblivion’ and the dichotomy drawn between click-bait and ‘quality,’ the author shows his irrelevance and old-school bias to what consumers are looking for online. There is a world of substance between investigative journalism and water-melons exploding which can yield profitable business models online.
