I am a developer and a photographer. You didn’t talk about Lightroom here but this software started to make me very concerned about Adobe.
I developed a plugin to synchronize Lightroom with WordPress then released it. It is called WP/LR Sync. I got many happy users but most asked to upload this plugin on the Adobe Exchange (for an easier way to install it and auto-updates). Therefore, since February, I have been trying to submit the files to the Exchange. Without any success. I contacted the Adobe guys, they replied, they said it was my fault, maybe I should do this and that. Tried everything and I could see it wasn’t my fault. It took 3 months for Adobe to lose it (they wrote me a desperate looking message) and to tell me the truth: they have too many issues with the Creative Cloud and the developers are swamped. They can’t do anything else than trying to fix it.
Today, I feel sad about Adobe. For me, they were synonym of quality and top notch engineering. Then, for a while, their beautiful UIs were hiding the mess in the back. But now, if you start the most recent version of Adobe InDesign, you can see they don’t even try to keep their applications‘ UI updated.
They have been patching, patching, patching their software the whole time. Now it is all bloated and close to impossible to enhance properly. I hope they don’t fix that, but step back, re-consider, and build good software again.
Meanwhile. I am looking forward to Affinity developing a Lightroom equivalent.
