Tim, The Sleazy Used Car Salesman

I used to be a used car sales man in a past life!

Seriously, I had a part time job selling cars whilst I was still at University.

I’ll tell you for free, that part time job was more of an education than my time at Uni!

What did I learn?

Without realising it was my first lessons in marketing.

The “Features” of a car such as the engine size, the boot capacity in liters, the fuel consumption figures, even the PRICE was NOT what sold the car!

It wasn’t even the “Benefits” of those features that sold the car.

What actually made a bigger difference was my ability to build a relationship with the person walking in to the showroom.

And building it FAST!

If I could find a hook, a point of commonality between me and them, the relationship was started.

And I’d usually sell them the right car ☺

See, people BUY from people.

Which should make getting product in to their hands, and more importantly, being consumed on regular basis.
