I think you and I would agree that most teachers desperately want to do a good job. They care about their students, their craft, and the world in general. Unfortunately, I believe most teacher preparation programs focus very little on anything other than methodology and practical skills. This is inline with a larger narrative that reduces the teacher to an unprofessional robot. Personally, I think teachers should actually take more theory, focused on the life of an intellectual worker. An intellectual worker who works to raise their own consciousness and that of their students.
